Sitting at Sidi’s Feet

Join us for a new, ongoing series in which we will explore different themes within Sidi’s oral teachings. Each month we will look at several teachings on the same topic, using audio files and written transcriptions, as a way to deepen our understanding of the teachings and, insha’allah, support each other in our learning.

The Format

Each month we will meet twice. At the first meeting we will begin to explore the topic of month and you will receive access to several .mp3 and .pdf files to work with on your own over the course of the following week. At the second meeting, which will take place one week later, we will come together to harvest and share the abundance and sacred jewels we’ve received, insha’allah deepening and embedding the wisdom into our hearts. Using a discussion based format, insha’allah we will all have the opportunity to share our wisdom and be enriched by the wisdom of others.

The Prophet Musa, alayhi-s-salam

Sidi taught about our beloved Prophet Musa, alayhi-s-salam, over the course of several years. In this session we’ll look at 4 teachings Sidi gave in two different years, seeing what he emphasized each time, drinking from the transmissions of fana and divine law and transformation our beloved Musa gave us, by the permission of Allah, Most High. Allah.

Exploring the Music of Yasin at-Tuhamy

In 2008 Sidi began using the music of Yasin at-Tuhamy in his teachings to elevate our spirits and bring out certain themes. The songs Sidi used had many subjects, including Divine servitude, the challenges of this life, patience, the crying of the oppressed, and more. Join us to explore this aspect of Sidi’s teachings, and let your spirit soar.

About Shams Wesley

This ongoing series will be facilitated by Shams Wesley, long-time student of Sidi al-Jamal. Shams was the primary editor and organizer of Sidi’s 7 transcription books published by SSC, including Secret of the Spirit. Shams also compiled and edited the book Sufi Healing Techniques with Sidi’s guidance and blessing.
