Sidi Remembrance Week
Honoring our Beloved Guide
Each year, we honor our beloved guide and shaykh, Sidi Muhammad al-Jamal ar-Rifa’i ash-Shadhili (qaddasallahu sirrahu) during the time when he left the dunya in 2015. Even though his body is now in the earth, his spirit is always available to us and supporting us, just as it was during his life.
This year we are offering several different ways to honor our beloved guide, including:
- Teachings
- Discussion panels
- A khalwa (all-night retreat)
- The practice of Dala’ilu-l-Khayrat (a collection of prayers praising the Prophet ﷺ), recited over the course of 9 days with a teaching to introduce it), and
- An opportunity to participate in a khatmah (a recitation of the entire Qur’an assigned to different people).
Complete the form below to join us for all or some of these offerings! View the schedule of events here.

Donate to The Palestine Children's Relief Fund
This year for Sidi Remembrance Week 2025, SSC is hosting a fundraiser to support children in need in Gaza. This special 10-year anniversary of Sidi’s passing provides a chance to reflect on all that Sidi has given to us, and to give charitably in his memory. May Allah preserve his secret and grant him the highest paradise. ✨
Our Guide so often encouraged us to give to those in need in the Holy Land. This special anniversary provides a moment to reflect on all that Sidi has given to us, and to give charitably in his memory. We have chosen to fundraise for the “Gaza Relief Fund” of the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF). PCRF is a non-profit organization based in the US, providing on-the ground direct support in Gaza through medical aid, food, and life-saving treatment to children and families in desperate need, including orphans and amputees.
We are setting a community goal to fundraise $5000 for Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund. All funds will be donated directly to the PCRF.(link).
SSC has developed a relationship with PCRF over the past few months and we’ve come to know them as a trustworthy and effective organization providing support in Gaza amidst the most difficult of circumstances. PCRF receives a 4 star rating on Charity Navigator (4 being the highest rating).
SSC as an organization is no longer able to send funds to individual people in the Holy Land due to risks this creates for our non-profit status. Giving through an established charitable organization such as PCRF is a way for SSC and our community to continue charitable ties with those in need in the region. We also recognize the individual beloveds in our community who have worked tirelessly over the past two years to fundraise for individuals and families in Gaza. If giving through these grassroots routes speaks to you, we encourage you to continue with that.
To learn about the most current work of PCRF in Gaza and their plans for the coming months, please read this October 2025 statement from the PCRF Board of Directors.
We encourage you to give generously in whatever way your heart is called. May Allah reward you with goodness!

What is Khatmah?
Khatmah is the practice of an individual or a group reciting the entire Qur’an. When practicing khatmah, you can donate the blessings of the recitation to anyone you wish, living or deceased. Traditionally, the Qur’an is recited in Arabic, but you can also recite it in English or any other language.
Every year we recite the Qur’an and donate the blessings to our beloved guide, Sidi. Using the form above, you can sign up to participate by reciting 1 juz of the Qur’an.
How to participate:
-
- Use the form above to sign up to participate.
- Latifa Tracy Ward will contact you to help you select a juz to recite.
- Recite the juz between now and November 12th. By Allah’s mercy, you can recite the Arabic, the transliteration, or the English.
- Email Latifa at tracykeatingward (at) gmail.com to let her know you’ve completed the juz.
