Brief History
It all started around twenty-four years ago, when Rauda was attending the Jaffe Institute (now University of Sufism) and Dr. Jaffe said to the class, “You need to go serve your communities.” Rauda lifted her hand and answered, “I have no community.” The answer came from Dr. Jaffe immediately, “Well, then you will have to start one.”
It sounded very scary.
We started very slowly. Several teachers came to give workshops.
The first teacher to visit was Salima Adelstein; she came twice, alhamdulillah. The two photos below are from that time. The first two beloveds took the promise then.
Afterwards, Aisha Cotten came to teach us several times, God bless her. She was always willing to come and took the community and me deeply in her heart. At the time I had serious health problems and personal problems. She was an elixir of love, Once Aisha came with Salih her husband. Such a blessing!
Salima also helped us very much during this time, letting the beloved in charge of her zawiyya come for a month. Alhamdulillah.
Other teachers followed: Ibrahim came twice, Nura Laird, Salih Kent, Abdul Rahim Keeley.
Said Bin Yunus taught for Mexico and Argentina once a week for two or three years. We love him very much.
Community Events
Since the beginning our community met once a week for dhikr every Sunday. at Rauda’s home, declared the “Shaduliyya Sufi Center Argentina,”
We also used to meet for Ramadan and Lailatu-l-Qadr. People came for dinner and people stayed overnight until after breakfast and then Fajr prayer.
We had many dinners together after classes and dhikrs.
We offered and held very short zawiyah retreats at home., with Sidis permission.
Rauda gave workshops
We did cuppings for a time.
We took one promise with Sidi allowing Rauda to do this.
Translated Books
Rauda translated three of Sidi’s books, alhamdulillah. Music of the Soul partially (first chapters, stations and readings Sidi used to read frequently), The Names of Our Lord, and He who knows Himself Knows his Lord. This last book was translated by Rauda and printed in a joint venture with a Mexican beloved, Rahma Monica Lang. It was the second very important connection with the Mexican Beloveds.
Punto de Encuentro
This was organized by Rahima Solorzano Hayes and Aamina Real from Mexico. It organized a number of classes given by Sufi teachers and translated by all of us.
In the recent past around four or five years ago, Rauda began teaching for Mexican and Argentinian beloveds, and during the pandemic those classes increased to once a week and, at times, twice a week. Our community has strong bonds now with the Mexican beloveds and we feel as one. Having a Mexican Argentinian chat to share teachings, prayers and comments helped a lot in getting to really know each other. We feel very blessed with our Spanish speaking community.
Al hamdulillah!
Other Translations
We also translate for Fawzia al Rawi´s dhikrs every Thursday, and for her Saturday one hour classes when they are held. Again, a joint venture with Mexico where generally Rauda translates and Aamina Real records. Sometimes shifting roles. Rahima J. Mendoza and Florentina Wardah Sassoli and Laura Hawa Antoine, have also stepped in when needed. It’s a multinational event: Austria, Mexico, and Argentina. Alhamdulillah. Building of heart bridges of light.
For twenty-three years we had only one beloved who had studied in the Jaffe Institute/University of Spiritual Healing and Sufism, as it is extremely expensive for us, Now we have three Argentinian beloveds studying in the Jaffe Institute. And a new Mexican sister is also studying there.
