Sidi was an amazing healer. He used herbs and natural medicines for healing and he compiled many books on the subject. Sidi also used energy work and prayer to help and heal others. Many of the healing methods he taught his students required that a student take a special oath before doing so. Some of the healing methods he taught require certain spiritual practices to be completed beforehand, such as wudu and salah. Below are three healing methods suitable for people who are new to Sufism and don’t require anything special, except your positive intentions and faith that God can heal anything, in order to perform them.
1. The Light Prayer
You can recite this prayer to yourself for self-healing or protection, or you can offer it as a healing or protection prayer for another.
Allahumma-j’al fi qalbi hadhal-insani nura
Oh Allah! Please put light in the heart of this person
Wa fi nafsi hadhal-insani nura
And light in the soul of this person
Wa fi ruhi hadhal-insani nura
And light in the spirit of this person
Wa fi ‘aqli hadhal-insani nura
And light in the intellect of this person
Allahumma-j’al ‘an yamini hadhal-insani nura
Oh Allah! Put light in the right side of this person
Wa ‘an yasari hadhal-insani nura
And light in the left side of this person
Wa min amami hadhal-insani nura
And light in front of this person
Wa min khalfi hadhal-insani nura
And light behind this person
Wa tahta aqdami hadhal-insani nura
And light underneath the feet of this person
Wa fawqi ra’si hadhal-insani nura
And light above the head of this person
Allahumma-j’al hadhal-insani nura
Oh Allah! Make this human all light!
Allahumma as’alukal-ijabatha bi-sirri ayat’l-kursi
Oh Allah grant me this by the secret of ayatul-Kursi
bismi-llahi-r-rahmani-r-rahim
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, Most Compassionate
allahu laa ʾilaha ʾilla huwa al-hayyu-l-qayyum
Allah! There is nothing worthy of worship except Him, the Ever-Living, the Self-Subsisting
la taʾkhudhuhu sinatun-wa la nawm
He is taken neither by slumber nor sleep
lahu ma fi-s-samawati wa-ma fi-l-ʾard
To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth
man dha-l-ladhi yashfaʿu ʿindahuu ʾilla
Who is there to intercede with Him save by His permission
bi-ʾidhnih ? yaʿlamu ma bayna ʾaydihim wa ma khalfahum
He knows what is between their hands and behind their backs
wa la yuhituna bi-shayʾim-min ʿilmihii ʾilla bi-ma shaaʾ
And they encompass no thing from His Knowledge except that He wills
wasiʿa kursiyyuhu-s-samawati wa-l-ʾard
His Foundation is wider then the heavens and the earth
wa la yaʾuduhu hifdhuhuma
And He is not hindered by their preservation
wa huwa-l-ʿaliyyu-l-ʿadhim
And He is the All High, The Most Great
