SalamAleykoum,
I had a small question regarding a subject I was discussing with a friend.
"Would the money be considered clean or tainted for a seller to give a haram/unethical product for free to a customer, after selling them other halal items, knowing that this product goes against the customer's religion?"
Knowing that the customer is consenting and the seller informs them of everything.
Example: a customer is interested in a seller, the customer wants to pay for illicit products, the seller tells them that they will receive illicit products for free on the condition that the customer pays for their lawful products, both the seller and the customer consent, everything is clear, would the money received by the seller for the lawful products be halal or haram, clean or tainted money?"
Wa alaykum salaam wa rahmatu’llah,
Thank you for taking the time to ask the question. I don’t really understand what you are asking, perhaps giving me a more concrete example would help tailor a better answer. Generally speaking, however, here is some advice.
If the seller is Muslim, then it is not permissible to own or give away illicit (haram) items, they would need to be disposed of. Things are forbidden (haram) because of the harm inherent in the object. Selling a legal (halal) item is permissible and the money from that sale is licit.
If the seller is non-Muslim, they already operate outside of Islamic law and so are not bound by the same rules in terms of giving something haram. However, it would not be permissible for a Muslim customer to purchase or accept illicit items for free. If they did accept the haram items they must dispose of them. Purchasing or being gifted legal (halal) items does not pose a problem and both the money/object and transaction is halal.
If you want to follow up with a more concrete example that may help, since there are nuances to the law that may change the ruling. May Allah reward you. Anything good is from Allah alone, anything else other than that is from myself, and Allah knows best.
