Calls to Prayer
The adhan is made at the time of each salah to announce the prayer time has come and to call people to the prayer. The mu’adhdhin recites the adhan in a loud, melodious voice, pausing after each line.
Lift your hands, palms open, and put your fingers in your ears as you give the call. Turn your head to the right as you say “Hayya ‘ala-s-salah” and to the left as you say “Hayya ‘ala-l-falah”.
Listen to Sidi Muhammad recite the adhan.
The Adhan
Allahu akbar allahu akbar (2x)
Ashadu an la ‘ilaha illa-llah (2x)
Ashadu anna muhammadan rasulu-llah (2x)
Hayya ‘ala-s-salah (2x)
Hayya ‘ala-l-falah (2x)
Allahu akbar alahu akbar
La ‘ilaha illa-llah
Note: For the morning (fajr) prayer after the line “hayya ‘ala falah” add the following line: As-salatu khayrun min a-naum (2x) (Prayer is better for you than sleep).
