A New Qur’an Study Series
Everyone is welcome to join as we embark on a new exploration of the Qur’an. Ramadan is the “Month of the Qur’an,” in which the beloveds of Allah devote themselves to deepening their relationship to the Book of Allah by reciting its verses and reflecting on its meanings. The Qur’an is an endless ocean of knowledge, guidance, light, and mercy. It is the quintessence of the prophetic tradition, and the beginning, middle, and end of the Sufi Path. However, many students find that as the Month of the Qur’an approaches, they struggle in approaching the Qur’an.
In these last weeks before Ramadan begins, we would like to re-introduce ourselves to the Qur’an by:
- Looking into the nature of the Divine Speech,
- Learning how the Qur’an was revealed, gathered, transmitted and explained,
- Discovering the virtues of reciting, memorizing and deeply understanding of the Book of Allah, and
- Encouraging ourselves to reconnect and revitalize our relationship to Allah’s Words.
Entering the interesting world of Qur’anic commentary, we will examine the introduction to two great scholarly texts: Al-Ma’ariful Qur’an by Mufti Shafi’i Usmani and Tafsir Al-Qurtubi, translated by Aisha Bewley.
