Month of Rajab Observances

The Month of Nearness to Allah

During the month of Rajab fighting is prohibited, it is a time to be thankful for what Allah has given us and a time to give for the face of Allah (charity, service, fasting, extra prayers, etc.).

Fasting is highly recommended this month, especially the first day March 18, 2018.  It is also a time to ask Allah for forgiveness of all our sins.

There are five nights in the Islamic calendar in which invocation (du`a) is not turned back:  the nights of Jumu`ah, the first night of Rajab, the night of mid-Sha`ban, and the two nights of `Eid.

1 Rajab - Special Night of Prayer - March 17th is the first night of Rajab in 2018.

27 Rajab – Al Isra’ wal Miraj (Night Journey) - April 12th 2018 has been confirmed to be the night of 27 Rajab. (Not April 13th as originally anticipated.)

For information about retreats (khalwahs) offered on these nights, please see the Khalwahs page under the Offerings menu.

1 Rajab

This is a night to ask Allah’s forgiveness and to ask Allah for whatever you want. Prayers made on these nights receive special attention from our Beloved Allah.  Extra salat and dhikr are encouraged the whole month of Rajab, as is fasting, especially the first day. We are holding a remote community khalwah on Saturday night.  Learn more.

27 Rajab  - Al Isra’ wal Miraj (The Night Journey)

On 27 Rajab (night of April 12, 2018) many people gather to read about and contemplate the Prophet's (saws) Night Journey.  Sidi's book The Ocean of the Mercy has several chapters about it - Chapters 29-31 on pages 118-138.  Join the remote khalwah!
