Join us for a weekly Qur’an tafsir class based on Sufi teachings. Amany will take you word by word through the Holy Book When this class begins on January 27, 2023, Amany will start at the eleventh Juz’ of the Qur’an, which contains Suratu-l-Yasin. Registration for this class is ongoing and you can join the group at any time.
Everyone is welcome, whether or not you have any previous knowledge of the Qur’an or Arabic.
Logistics
Date: Every Friday night
During Ramadan: 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm PT / 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm ET
Class will resume at its normal time on Friday, 4/15, insha’allah.
Normal Time: 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm PT / 8:30 pm – 10:00 pm
Suggested Donation
There is no set fee for this class. The suggested donation is $0-$100 per month, payable by credit or debit card, which includes one class a week with exceptions for holy days and holidays. In Islam, those who have more give more. We trust that you will give the amount at the intersection of the high value you place on the class and what you can afford, insha’allah.
About Amany
Amany earned her post-graduate diploma in Islamic studies from the Islamic College of Advanced Studies in London in 2002, and has 18 years of experience providing Islamic Sufi education and spiritual care for several Shadhiliyya Sufi communities across North America. After acting as Sidi Muhammad’s interpreter for several years and demonstrating her knowledge of Islam and Sufism, Sidi gave Amany ijaza (certification) to teach these subjects. Amany served as Sidi’s interpreter for twelve years, has translated 20 of Sidi’s books into English, and is a former faculty member of the University of Sufism.
Amany is the Founder of Universal Chaplaincy, a Certified Clinical Chaplain, and a Member of The Association of Muslim Chaplains. She obtained her certificate in clinical pastoral chaplaincy from Adventhealth, FL, 2020, and for the past several years has been offering certification in Islamic chaplaincy via Zoom.
In 2015, Amany earned her master’s degree in comparative philosophy of religion from Middlesex University in London. She wrote The Essence of Creation, The Emanation of Consciousness, and Hidden Pearls, a book of poems. She also authored two children’s books published by Richard Ownes Publications Inc.
Amany currently serves as a chaplain, teaches a certified chaplaincy course, and is the gender equity coordinator for Muslim Women’s Organization. She lives in Florida and is the mother of three children, a son, and two daughters.
